Over the course of the week, the participants explored a wide range of key topics, including the evolving definition of heritage, international and national legal frameworks, strategies for protection and safeguarding, heritage management systems, and the links between heritage and sustainable development. Critical contemporary issues such as climate change, disaster risk preparedness, and ethical considerations in heritage management were also addressed.
The participants engaged in a rigorous schedule of lectures, group work, thematic discussions, and peer-to-peer exchanges, which encouraged them to reflect on complex heritage issues, share their professional experiences, and apply global frameworks to the Mongolian context. They examined real-world challenges and proposed practical, context-sensitive solutions, highlighting needs such as improved intersectoral collaboration, increased community engagement, enhanced policy frameworks, stronger research capacity, and greater public awareness.
