The deadline for artists to submit applications is July 16.
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — If you ever wanted to help beautify the City of Warner Robins, now you can, because the city has a live call going on for local artists who are interested in creating a design that could be used on a wrap to cover those bare, metal traffic boxes located at many of the city’s intersections.
The program is called “Adopt a Box Program for the City of Warner Robins Traffic Boxes.”
Kate Hogan, the Director of Community and Economic Development, says they got the idea to spruce up the traffic boxes through a program they’re part of called “The Georgia Economic Place Making Collaborative” through the Georgia Municipal Association.
One of the reasons they would like to cover them with local art is because they have your typical utilitarian look and are not very aesthetic, Hogan said.
Hogan said there are 54 traffic boxes in Warner Robins, but for now, they’d like to begin with covering seven of them.
Hogan said they’re looking call backs from artists by July 16.
She said there is a criterion they must follow to stay in GDOT guidelines. Hogan said all submissions should be themed with ideas, like civic engagement and hometown heritage.
