EXCLUSIVE: Titus Kaphar, the prolific contemporary artist who has recently added filmmaking to his repertoire, has signed with Atlas Artists for representation in film, scripted television, documentary, and interdisciplinary media projects.
Kaphar’s debut feature film, Exhibiting Forgiveness, with Roadside Attractions, premiered to wide critical acclaim, starring Andre Holland (Moonlight) and Andra Day (The United States vs. Billie Holiday). Kaphar’s film is a semi-autobiographical drama that evolved from his 2014 exhibition and short film, The Jerome Project, and his award-winning 2022, Oscar Shortlisted documentary short, Shut Up and Paint. Kaphar’s newly formed production company, Revolution Ready Films, aims to expand the artist’s filmmaking ambitions in 2025.

Before taking up screenwriting and film directing, Kaphar garnered attention and acclaim for his asrt world achievements. After graduating from the Yale School of Art, he went on to have his art featured in major collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, the National Portrait Gallery and many others. Kaphar’s artwork was featured on the cover of Time magazine in 2020 during the magazine’s coverage of the protests surrounding the death of George Floyd. Kaphar was a recipient of the 2018 Macarthur “Genius” Grant, as well as the Wall Street Journal Innovator Award in 2020. His work I Hear You in My Head, prominently featured in the background of the key art for his film, is currently on display at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach.
Atlas joins UTA and attorney While he may be a newcomer to the world of film, this is only the beginning for Titus Kaphar’s cross-media journey.
He will continue to be represented by United Talent Agency and Craig Jacobson.
