Paint Knutsford will see more than 30 artists will set up outdoor ‘studios’ around the town, creating works of art live throughout the day.
Both professionals and amateurs will be taking part in the day-long competition from 9.30am on Sunday, August 17.
They can spend seven hours capturing their own unique image of the historic town.
The innovative event has been organised by Knutsford Town Council.
Visitors will be able to pick up a map to see where each artist is located and watch the creations unfold in real time.
To add to the ambiance, alfresco dining will also be in place along King Street to allow visitors to watch the painting whilst eating and drinking outside at various restaurants and cafes.
The finished artwork will be displayed in Knutsford Market Hall from 4.30pm, where a judging panel will decide who takes home the prize.
As part of the festivities, the newly-refurbished market will also exhibit a special display of artwork by Knutsford’s budding young talents.
Knutsford mayor Cllr Bryan Hartley and local gallery owner Tony Turner will judge the entries.
Tony said: “It’s always difficult to judge individual artwork but initial impact of colour and narrative play a huge part for me.
“I’m looking forward to this event tremendously and seeing all the artist’s work and their enthusiasm.”
Trail maps of the artists’ locations can be picked up at council offices, the market and various town centre businesses.
