Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said that the preservation and beautification of historical monuments is an important responsibility of the government. She was addressing a gathering at the ‘Viksit Bharat Art Camp’, organised as part of the Seva Pakhwada, near the Mohammad Quli Khan Tomb in Mehrauli Archaeological Park.
The event was jointly organised by the Delhi government’s Department of Art, Culture, and Language and the Sahitya Kala Parishad. Around 1,000 children and 75 young artists showcased their creativity and art. The Sahitya Kala Parishad presented a cultural programme—‘Anekta Mein Ekta’—to mark the event.

Stating that the event is a beautiful celebration of India’s culture and art, organised by the ministry under the ‘Seva Pakhwada’, Gupta noted that the four monuments, whose restoration has been fully completed, were dedicated during the event.
“Alongside the country’s development, the preservation of historical heritage is equally important. Currently, the ministry is working on 14 monuments, which are being preserved for future generations,” she said.
She also reiterated that preserving and beautifying monuments is an important government task, carried forward in alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision. She emphasised that the paintings created by children and artists reflect India’s next phase. “The future belongs to India, which is emerging as a global guru, and the world will witness it. Everyone should work together to ensure that both the country and Delhi progress,” she added.
Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra said that the Mehrauli Archaeological Park has been restored and preserved by the Delhi government. The site is now being presented in a new form with high-tech lighting and is being developed as a major tourist destination. Around 1,000 children created paintings on themes such as Developed India, Operation Sindoor, Future India, and Transforming India.
