First arts, heritage and culture boss at Swindon Borough Council


The cabinet member for placemaking and planning, Councillor Marina Strinkovsky, who has responsibility for arts and cultural events, announced the appointment of Kate Wyatt as the head of culture, heritage, arts and special events – which she abbreviated as “Chase”.

Making the announcement at the launch of the Swindon Culture Collective at the County Ground, Cllr Strinkovsky said: “This is a big change at the council – the first time it’s understood the importance of  both the arts and events as a way of transforming and improving the town.

“Kate Wyatt will lead our work on making Swindon a thriving cultural hub.

“I’m very pleased to see she’s he has become an instant convert to the I look forward to working with Kate and our wonderful partners as we embark on this important journey.”

The area director for the South West at Arts Council England Phil Gibby echoed that excitement. He told the launch event: “I’m especially pleased to see the council appoint a new head of culture, sure to galvanise the local sector and further establish Swindon as one of the country’s leading centres for innovation and inclusion.”

Ms Wyatt starts her job at Euclid Street on September 1 and was unable to speak to the LDR before that date.
