Whitchurch Silk Mill has announced its Heritage Craft Workshop Programme, offering beginner-friendly sessions designed to ignite creativity and preserve traditional craftsmanship.
Delivered by skilled artisans, the workshops aim to foster a sense of community so participants can learn, create, and connect with the art of making.
Sue Tapliss, director of Whitchurch Silk Mill, said: “We’re proud to launch this programme of heritage craft workshops to help people rediscover the joy of making and reconnect with traditional skills.
“Each session is designed to be relaxed, friendly and inspiring, perfect for anyone who wants to learn something new and create something truly unique.”

The programme will begin in January with a workshop on the art of darning, teaching attendees how to repair and revive textiles to extend the life of their garments.
In February, participants can learn the techniques to weave wall hangings.
Future sessions will include beginner-level introductions to knitting, as well as workshops on braiding, warping, embroidery, and crochet.
Each class is structured to ensure that newcomers feel supported and inspired, with expert guidance and all materials provided.
The mill is committed to playing a role in the wider story of making in the UK, and highlights Whitchurch Silk Mill’s place in the nation’s story of making.
Spaces are limited, with early booking advised.
