The 16th edition of the Singapore Night Festival (SNF) returns from 22 August – 6 September 2025, spotlighting island heritage, cultural storytelling, and creative collaboration.
Titled Island Nights, this year’s festival will feature more than 80 events across the Bras Basah. Bugis precinct, forming a comprehensive programme that bridges historical narrative with contemporary expression.
Coinciding with Singapore’s 60th year of independence, the festival explores the island’s evolution from maritime trading post to global cultural hub. It brings together public art, light installations, heritage exhibitions and live performances, reinforcing Singapore’s identity as both a cultural destination and a platform for Southeast Asian artistic exchange.
Key landmarks such as the National Museum of Singapore and CHIJMES will serve as projection canvases, showcasing narrative sequences focused on Singapore’s coastal origins, seafaring heritage and multicultural identity.
Live performances will represent the full spectrum of Singapore’s cultural influences, from traditional Chinese puppetry to contemporary theatre and music. Highlights include Starlight Alchemy’s LED performance.
The integration of the Listening Biennial and the inaugural ALIGHT Conference into the SNF schedule further demonstrates the festival’s commitment to supporting regional arts dialogue and professional development. These initiatives aim to strengthen Southeast Asia’s creative networks and showcase Singapore as a knowledge-sharing centre in the arts sector.
Two new themed festival villages Paradise Island on Armenian Street and Retro District at Bugis Street Art Lane will serve as key activation points. These villages, together with National Day-themed installations, support festival-wide visitor flow and strengthen the precinct’s role as a dynamic cultural corridor.
