Sunderland launch ‘amazing’ heritage collection inspired by ’90s nostalgia


Sunderland AFC has added new items to the Art of Football range ahead of the next round of Premier League fixtures

Sunderland AFC has launched a new clothing line inspired by football nostalgia. It marks the second drop in the Sunderland x Art Of Football collection, which includes hoodies, sweatshirts, tees and art prints.

The new campaign is fronted by Black Cats young star Chris Rigg and includes the Sunderland x Art of Football 90’s Sweatshirt (£60), a nod to 90’s training wear and featuring an embroidered club crest from that era. It’s also available as a retro-style white t-shirt (£45).

Also in the collection is the Sunderland x Art of Football Knitted Jumper (£60), a jacquard designed in the club colours and ‘SAFC’ text. The Sunderland ‘Classics’ range – available as a printed T-shirt (£30) or a hoodie (£65) – showcases five iconic Sunderland shirts from across the decades.

Another highlight is the 12th Man T-Shirt (£30), designed as a tribute to the Club’s supporters and featuring ‘Ha’way The Lads’ printed on the chest, with an image of the Stadium of Light interior on the back. The Sunderland x Art of Football Label Print Hoodie (£65) features a high-quality DTF print of the club crest on the front and back.

Leading the launch is Art Of Football’s mascot, Pickles, who features on the Home Pickles T-Shirt (£32) sporting the iconic 1997/98 jersey. This piece is said to be a nod to one of Sunderland’s most memorable eras and a tribute to Golden Boot winner Kevin Phillips.

Sunderland AFC has collaborated with Art Of Football with to launch a new clothing line inspired by the club’s heritage.

Announcing the Sunderland x Art Of Football collaboration, the club said: “We are delighted to announce a new partnership with ART OF Football and Fanatics, bringing supporters an exciting new collection inspired by the club’s proud heritage and the passion that surrounds the Stadium of Light.

“The collaboration celebrates the moments and memories that define Sunderland AFC, placing the pride and community spirit of the city at its heart.”

Each item in the collection is available at Fanatics and the SAFC Store. It comes as sports retailer Kitbag launches a mid-season sale on a range of Sunderland merchandise that’s now 33% off, including the Sunderland Loop Graphic Hoodie (£33.50) and Sunderland Hummel Training Half Zip (£46.90).

Sunderland flans shared their first impression of the new Sunderland x Art Of Football collection in the club’s Instagram comments, with one saying: “I want it all, it’s perfect.” Another wroter: “Amazing collaboration. Love the heritage collection.”

Not everyone is impressed, as one person simply added: “Flop.” While this fan commented: “Let’s get those Black Cats gear flying.”
