Iconic paintings given a modern makeover using popular beauty trends to show what they would look like now

ICONIC paintings have been given a modern make-over using AI– showing what the models would have looked like had they been pictured now.

Mona Lisa, Girl with the Pearl Earring and The Birth of Venus were reimagined using some of the most popular beauty trends from the last 30 years.

It saw the Birth of Venus, which was painted by Sandro Botticelli in the 1480s, given a classic 1990s makeover, complete with body glitter, nail art and the iconic small butterfly clips in her hair.

While Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa was taken into the early 00’s, with skinny brows, chunky highlights and frosted eyeshadow.

Finally, Girl with a Pearl Earring, painted by Johannes Vermeer in the 1660s, has been given today’s modern look with bold brows, dewy skin and nude coloured lips.

The classic paintings of some of the most famous female muses were reimagined by Perfectil, which explored some of the beauty trends that have come and gone in the three decades since the supplement was launched.

It comes after research revealed smoky eye make-up, ‘the Rachel’ haircut and kohl eyeliner are among the most iconic beauty trends of that time.

While Jennifer Aniston, Kate Middleton and Beyoncé were named the top modern beauty icons of the last three decades.

A spokesperson from Vitabiotics Perfectil, said: “Some of the trends of the last few decades have been iconic, so we wanted to give some iconic paintings a truly iconic look.

“Had Vermeer, Leonardo da Vinci or any of these old masters been around today, these give some indication how their paintings may have looked differently.

“But we all know a lot of these trends are fleeting and many are no longer at the forefront of beauty – although they may well come back again in 30 years’ time.

“While these trends come and go, one thing which truly has stood the test of time is the strong link between beauty and wellness from within to ensure a healthy lifestyle and a diet rich in key nutrients.

“That would also have been the case when these photos were first created, before some of these more iconic trends even became a thing.”

Other beauty icons to have dominated the scene in the last 30 years included Rihanna, Kate Moss and Jennifer Lopez.

While Kim Kardashian may not be best pleased to have placed one spot below her celebrity feud Taylor Swift.

In terms of the individual trends, bright red lips, eyeliner flicks, contouring and lash extensions were also considered to be among the most memorable.

Along with some classic looks such as nail art, a blunt bob and glitter eyeshadow.

Crimped hair, shiny lip gloss and even blue mascara also made the list.

It emerged 51 per cent of the 2,000 women polled believe many 90s and 00s trends are making a comeback, with 12 per cent hoping heavy kohl eyeliner, beloved of The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman, might regain popularity.

Back in that era, 22 per cent got their hair and beauty inspiration from TV and films, and the same amount relied on friends.

But now, 27 per cent get theirs from social media instead, according to the OnePoll.com figures, as 38 per cent feel nostalgic for trends from years gone by.

With 69 per cent claiming their beauty routine is important to them, dedicating more than 20 minutes a day to it – an average of two hours and 20 minutes each week.

More than a quarter (26 per cent) even confessed to spending more time on their hair and beauty now than they did when they were teens.

The spokesperson from Vitabiotics Perfectil added: “Beauty has always been a focus for many, even if the trends they try to replicate and include with their regime may be different now than when the Mona Lisa was first painted.

“The backbone of beauty is – and always has been – good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.

“The trends we follow will change as we grow and find what works for us externally, but the goodness we consistently put into our bodies will remain a constant.”
