[ad_1] Qatar Museums (QM) will bring together leading voices from the country’s art, museum, and heritage sectors for the “Evolution Nation Voices” podcast series, from May 16 to 18 at M7, featuring discussions on Qatar’s evolving cultural identity and creative future.The live podcast conversations, taking place at M7’s Creative Hub, will feature representatives from Fire Station, the Museum of Islamic Art and QM’s Cultural Heritage Protection department. According to QM, the series will open on May 16 with “A Decade of Artistic Experimentation and Exchange,” a conversation between Wael Shawky and Mikey Muhanna marking Fire Station’s 10-year milestone. The session will reflect on artistic experimentation, mentorship and institution-building in Qatar, while exploring how Fire Station has supported artists over the past decade.The discussion will also examine the growing role of research-led artistic practice and the significance of international platforms such as Art Basel Qatar for artists working in the Arab region.On May 17, Shaika al-Nassr and Dr Mounia Chekhab-Abudaya will lead a session titled “The Role of Museums in Shaping Cultural Identity.” QM noted that the conversation will focus on how museums influence the understanding and interpretation of culture through exhibitions, collections and curatorial decisions. It will also provide insight into how the Museum of Islamic Art balances scholarship, storytelling, accessibility and global relevance in its work.The series will conclude on May 18 with “Preserving Heritage in a Rapidly Changing Nation,” featuring Abdullatif Mohammed Al Jasmi. Drawing on more than two decades of experience in heritage protection and policy, Al Jasmi will discuss how institutions determine what heritage should be preserved and the methods used to safeguard it.The session will address topics including legislation, adaptive reuse, international heritage frameworks and emergency planning, highlighting the challenges of sustaining heritage in a rapidly developing environment.The podcast series forms part of Evolution Nation, QM's flagship cultural campaign celebrating major milestones in the country’s cultural development, including the 50th anniversary of the National Museum of Qatar, the 20th anniversary of QM and the 15th anniversary of the Doha Film Institute.Curated by Qatar Creates, the campaign reflects on Qatar’s cultural journey over the past five decades, highlighting the institutions, artists and initiatives that have helped position the country as a regional and global hub for art, culture and creativity.
