Craig Black was commissioned to create official ‘visual identity installations’ for the Emirates FA Cup Final, held on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.
The fixture saw two Premier League titans – Manchester City and Chelsea – with Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens winning 1-0.
Craig’s immersive, large-scale artworks were integrated throughout Wembley, including in the players’ tunnel, trophy plinth, winner’s arch, LED screens, and key presentation areas.
Craig said: “Collaborating with the FA on the Emirates FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium was an incredibly proud moment for myself, my family, and the studio.
“The FA Cup is one of the most iconic competitions in world football, with such deep history and emotion attached to it, so to bring my ‘acrylic fusion’ technique into that environment felt really special.”
Craig’s acrylic fusion style, known for its fluid movement and bold colours, was adapted into Emirates-inspired reds and finalist blues for the occasion.
The installations formed part of the final’s visual experience, seen by millions worldwide, as Chelsea and Manchester City players walked out onto the pitch and during the trophy presentation.
Craig said: “The vision was to create artwork that captured the energy, intensity, and occasion of the final through fluid movement and colour, transforming key spaces within Wembley into immersive visual experiences.
“Seeing the work showcased across the stadium and becoming part of such a globally recognised sporting moment was something I’ll never forget.”
Craig has established himself internationally through collaborations with brands such as FIFA, Porsche, Meta, and Disney.
The project also had personal significance for the artist, who once played professional football for Greenock Morton F.C. before transitioning into art and design.
He now runs Studio Craig Black, an internationally recognised creative practice based in Scotland, which continues to explore the intersections of contemporary art, sport, and global culture.
