Young Hong Kong artists are showcasing their creative works inspired by local landmarks and heritage, such as Lingnan School paintings and cheongsams, at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in an exhibition running until March 2, 2026.
Titled “HK Snapshots • City Walks: Fresh Takes on Hong Kong’s Art and Cultural Heritage,” the exhibition highlights four groups of emerging talents: Lingnan School painter Rebecca Lo, the Hong Kong Cheongsam Association, printing studio ditto ditto, and Key-Point Productions.
Lo, a fourth-generation Lingnan artist, blends traditional Chinese painting with Western techniques to produce five porcelain plate sets featuring flowers, birds, landscapes, and historic buildings, rendered with vivid detail on Jingdezhen porcelain.
The Hong Kong Cheongsam Association has assembled young designers to craft four innovative sets of cheongsams, combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced technologies such as jacquard weaving and 3D printing to reinterpret the city’s cultural memory.
Printing studio ditto ditto adds a personal touch with letterpress works, including postcards and calendars that depict Hong Kong’s attractions and cuisine.
Key-Point Productions draws inspiration from street stalls, creating foldable installations that frame the other artworks.
First presented in the Hong Kong section of the ninth Hong Kong-Macao Visual Art Biennale back in October 2024, the exhibition has subsequently toured Hangzhou, Nanjing, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen before returning to the museum.
