The Artists Open Houses (AOH) Winter Festival is set to bring festive creativity to neighbourhoods across Brighton and Hove, with artists and makers opening their doors to the public over three weekends.
Running on November 29 and 30, December 6 and 7 and December 13 and 14, the event invites visitors to explore a wide variety of arts and crafts in homes and studios throughout the city.
Judy Stevens, director of AOH, said: “We are thrilled to return after the biggest Artists Open Houses Festival to date in Spring, with a Winter Festival that will see houses across the city opening their doors in the festive spirit.
“Join us by visiting houses in your neighbourhood and beyond, where you can meet members of the local creative community and discover a world of high quality artistry and craftsmanship here in Brighton & Hove.”
Centred around the Christmas period, the festival offers visitors the opportunity to browse and purchase original artworks and handmade crafts directly from the makers, with items perfect for gifting.
Many venues will also offer mulled drinks, festive decorations and the chance to chat with the artists in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
Participants can plan their visits by browsing the full list of houses online at aoh.org.uk..
This year’s winter edition will feature a wide range of artists and makers, including Rose Emma Ceramics, Victoria Homewood, Phillipa McDonnel and Louisa Ineson at The Garden House.
Visitors can also enjoy mulled wine or a locally made independent beer from North Garden Brewery, a brewery founded in this house.
Other highlights include Harriett’s Press, a creative space supporting individuals facing poverty and isolation, and Faye Bridgwater’s open house showcasing vibrant florals and landscapes.
Emma Harris and Friends return with curated artworks, jewellery, ceramics, candles and home fragrances.
The home of Twofolde artists Andy and Ben will feature contemporary ceramics, textiles, jewellery and paintings in a setting defined by minimal design and muted colour palettes.
Two Persimmons will offer a selection of unique gifts blending Japanese and British craft traditions.
AOH organisers emphasise that buying directly from artists helps support their careers.
