Who doesn’t love a Southern Gothic vampire thriller? The artists featuring on the soundtrack of ‘Sinners’ certainly do: they’re seeing a sustained boost to streams of their music. That’s according to Luminate, which has been crunching the numbers on the blues, folk and country musicians who appear on the soundtrack.
The key being that this was more than just a short-term boost. “Not only did several artists featured on the OST see spikes the week of Sinners’ theatrical release starting April 18, but they’re all enjoying a sustained rise in listenership even two-plus months since the film premiered,” explained Luminate in a blog post.
Cedric Burnside, Alice Smith and Lola Kirke (who also stars in the film) are among those with the biggest growth, which Luminate said ties into a wider trend for blues fans revealed in a recent survey. “42% of Blues fans reported discovering music from soundtracks, compared with 29% of the general population.”
