Exhibit can be viewed in the Nanaimo Museum’s community gallery until Sept. 1
The Nanaimo Museum has put the spotlight on a well-known cluster of historic islets beside Pipers Lagoon for its annual heritage art show.
The exhibit, which highlights the history of Vancouver Island, asked artists to look at the unique charm of Shack Island and create a piece based on their unique perspectives.
The 19-piece mixed and multi-media show was hung at the beginning of July in the community gallery in the museum and will remain displayed until Sept. 1.
Peggy Kry’s acrylic painting titled Red Shack was dubbed the Judges Choice Winner for this year’s exhibit. Visitors can also vote for their favourite work of art in-person.
The current heritage art exhibit can be found in the main lobby of the museum and is free to view during operational hours.
