MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — In honor of celebrating American Indian Heritage month, Minnesota State Moorhead unveiled a powerful new sculpture.

The sculpture known as the ‘Gauntlet’ was created by Dennis Williams.

He is an MSUM art education major who is also a member of the White Earth Nation – Pillager Band of Ojibwe.

He says this sculpture reflects the challenges and choices of education rooted in Ojibwe heritage and resilience.

“So, you know, this is the end of this career, but you know, now I got my professional career and I’m also planning on going to get my masters,” said Williams.

The sculpture is a part of the permanent art collection in the Comstock Memorial Union.
