Brixham Art Society to host nautical exhibition alongside heritage sailing regatta

A nautical-themed art exhibition celebrating Brixham’s maritime heritage is set to take place later this month alongside the town’s popular Heritage Sailing Regatta.

Brixham Art Society will host the three-day exhibition at the Brixham Conservative Club from May 22 to May 24, showcasing artwork created by local and professional artists from across Torbay and Brixham.

The exhibition will run alongside the annual Brixham Heritage Sailing Regatta and will feature a range of maritime-inspired paintings, including artwork depicting the well-known heritage vessel Our Daddy. Affordable greeting cards and original artwork will also be available for visitors to purchase.

Newly elected Brixham Art Society president Mackenzie Moulton said the event is an opportunity to celebrate both local creativity and the town’s strong connection to the sea.

“We have a wonderful group of mature and professional artists within the society, and this exhibition is all about celebrating Brixham’s heritage and community spirit,” he said.

Moulton has also created a painting of one of the heritage boats taking part in the regatta, helping connect the exhibition directly to the historic sailing event taking place across the same weekend.

The exhibition aims to attract both residents and visitors attending the regatta, offering another way for people to experience Brixham’s maritime culture through local art.

The exhibition will be open daily from May 22- 24 at the Brixham Conservative Club on New Road.
