Gorakhpur video goes viral.

Gorakhpur video goes viral.

In a ‘disturbing’ video that recently surfaced on the internet, some men were seen urinating on a wall that was adorned with paintings of Gods and deities. After the video went viral, people were seen showcasing their anger on various social media platforms. As per the viral video, the incident unfolded at the Gorakhpur railway station in Uttar Pradesh. The clip was being recorded from inside a train that was seemingly standing at the railway station. The matter also brought back the ‘much-normalised’ issue of public urination in the spotlight. Times Now could not confirm the exact date and location of the incident. One of the walls also had an instruction, asking people to not urinate on it.

The clip, soon after getting shared, drew major backlash. Most demanded actions against the men seen in the clip, while some tagged the authorities, and asked them to intervene in the matter.

Public urination, despite being a crime, is not exactly something new to the country, as the act is common to the level where it has been normalised.

“The scene at Gorakhpur Railway Station presents a deeply troubling contradiction: walls adorned with sacred images of Hindu gods and goddesses are being defiled by the utterly unacceptable act of public urination. This stark juxtaposition highlights a profound lack of respect and sensitivity, where the sanctity of religious art is being openly violated,” the post read.
The video was shared on Instagram, by the handle ‘Indians’. The post was shared today and pulled more than 38K likes from people.
