Spotify paid out R$2bn of royalties for music by Brazilian artists in 2025, the company has announced. That’s around $409.2m at current exchange rates. The payouts grew by 24% compared to 2024.
“To put this in perspective: royalties generated by Brazilian artists on Spotify grew at almost double the rate of the market as a whole,” noted Spotify in its blog post, which also highlighted indie success.
“The royalties generated by Brazilian independent artists or labels on Spotify in 2025 will exceed the global average by approximately half.”
The company added that Brazilian funk was its fastest-growing $100m-plus genre globally in 2025, with royalties up 36% year-on-year – beating K-Pop, Latin Trap, Urban Latino and Reggaeton.
Spotify’s figures reflect the wider numbers published by the IFPI in its recent Global Music Report. Brazil was the eighth biggest recorded-music market in 2025 overall, moving up one place in the rankings.
That chart was based on the domestic Brazilian market, which grew by 14.1% in 2025 to $707.7m. Spotify’s figures cover royalties paid for streams of Brazilian music globally on its service, not just in Brazil.
