Khutsong Township is set to come alive with the vibrant spirit of arts, culture, and youth empowerment as the highly anticipated “Heritage Exposure” festival takes place on Saturday, September 28, at the Multi-purpose Centre in Extension 4.
Organised by Glitters of the Future Production in partnership with Via Motion Dance Group, the event is part of South Africa’s Heritage Month celebrations and aims to showcase the diverse cultural talent of the Merafong community.
Showcasing local talent
The festival promises an unforgettable day of performances ranging from drama, poetry, and dance to live music, crafts, and visual art. Local favourites such as:
-
Glitters of the Future
-
Via Motion Dance Group
-
Vibration Taylor
-
Bleed to Lead
-
Rapper Bigger
-
DJ Pringle
…along with surprise guest artists, are all part of the exciting lineup that will keep the crowd entertained and inspired throughout the day.
Using the arts to address social challenges
More than just a celebration, Heritage Exposure is deeply rooted in youth development and social impact. Organisers see the event as a platform to help combat pressing community issues such as drug abuse, gangsterism, and teenage pregnancy by giving young people creative alternatives and safe spaces to express themselves.
“We believe in empowering our youth through the arts,” said a representative from Glitters of the Future. “Events like these help them discover their talents, build confidence, and stay away from negative influences.”
Everyone Is Welcome
The event is free and open to all, and the community is encouraged to come out in numbers to support local talent, honour cultural heritage, and celebrate unity. With a strong focus on uplifting the youth and preserving local traditions, Heritage Exposure is more than a festival—it’s a movement toward a brighter, more connected future for Khutsong and the greater Merafong area.
